As the Admissions Director at Barberton Post Acute, I recently had the unique experience of also being a patient here for nearly three weeks after breaking my ankle in three places. Due to my injury, returning home safely was not an option at the time. The hospital initially recommended an inpatient rehabilitation facility because, at 36 years old, they did not feel a skilled nursing facility would be the best fit. However, I confidently chose Barberton Post Acute because I already knew the quality of care our team provides. I knew the nursing staff would take excellent care of me, therapy would help me regain my strength and mobility, and our residents would make me feel welcome. From the moment I arrived, that is exactly what happened. Although I was in significant pain, I immediately felt the warmth, compassion, and support of everyone around me. The environment was incredibly welcoming and made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. A special thank you to Grace, our Resident Vice President, and the Activities Department for making sure I was always included and engaged. Grace quickly became my “wheelchair buddy” and is truly one of the most welcoming residents you could ever meet. The nursing staff consistently went above and beyond. They were always available when I needed assistance, and many team members stopped by just to check on me and see how I was doing. Their kindness and genuine concern meant so much during my recovery. The therapy team was outstanding. They challenged me every day while keeping me focused on my ultimate goal—returning home safely. One of my biggest fears was navigating stairs. I worried that one wrong move could result in another injury or even additional surgery. Through their encouragement, expertise, and patience, they helped me build the confidence I needed. Before I knew it, I was successfully completing 20 stairs—something I never thought I could do when I first arrived. Experiencing Barberton Post Acute as both an employee and a patient gave me an even greater appreciation for the exceptional care provided here every day. I am incredibly grateful to the entire team for helping me recover and regain my independence. I highly recommend Barberton Post Acute to anyone in need of skilled nursing care or rehabilitation services. Thank you all for everything you do. ❤️

My mom is currently in there and my dad’s and they have a hard time getting showers coming up and off the toilet give me anybody to help them there’s only a few nurses there that are actually worth something if I could afford to move my mom somewhere else and my dad I’ve definitely would every time I walk in there it smells like feces and really bad strong smelling. I was post pictures but I have never had the desire to take any pictures in that place it looks nice when you first walk in until you smell it and you realize what the workers are actually like I know they’re overworked and there’s not enough of them but it doesn’t take 2 hours to put somebody on a toilet I don’t care how many people are there
